Bluebell Workshop 8th and 9th of May 2010

I recently announced my next workshop which will be held on location in either one or two ancient woodlands in North Lancashire. The final destination will be chosen towards the end of April and will be determined by the advance of spring. It would be a poor do to have a Bluebell Workshop without any Bluebells!009012c

One place that is most likely a dead cert is Brock Valley, a gorgeously photogenic location that sits in the shadow of Beacon Fell on the edge of the Forest of Bowland. Expect an early start to take advantage of the morning light and the peace and quiet of a Sunday morning in the woods. The plan is to take just 6 people out for the day, possibly with a packed lunch brought along by the students (although this may yet change to a cafe depending on the final location choice, watch this blog), and to enjoy a good day out with our camera’s learning and exploring together.

There’ll be lots to see and shoot, with a good bloom of Ramsons, that much underrated spring flower, expected in addition to the Bluebells and various other spring woodland species. The damper areas will have Marsh Marigolds to see.

Rushing through the valley is the Brock River which tumbles over rocks and provides a playground for Dipper, Heron and Kingfisher.  We shall try our luck but the river will provide ample opportunity to refine slow shutter speed work, and action freezing photography.125a-394

With such a small group, the students won’t fail to benefit from one-to-one time with me. The previous workshops have been lively events where friendships have been formed and students ambitions and dreams coming one step nearer.

The charge for the day is just £85 per student, a price crunching reduction on previous workshops. So if you’re interested please book soon as places will fill!
